GUIDELINES FOR INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANISATION APPLICATIONS

Variety the Children’s Charity supports families by funding equipment, resources and experiences through our three flagship Grant Programs:

Freedom Program – giving children the freedom to move by funding mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walking frames and modified trikes including Sunshine Coaches and Liberty Swings.

Future Kids Program – Supporting children to reach their full potential by providing educational equipment including computers, iPads and software packages to positively transform their classroom experience and academic performance.

Caring for Kids Program – providing essential medical and health equipment to care for kids at home, in the community and in hospital.

Please call Variety NT on 8981 2544 if you think your request may not meet the above criteria.

Please read and answer all the questions carefully – attach separate sheets if you require more space. Applications for assistance can be made at any time.

The Variety NT Grant Committee oversees all applications for assistance to ensure that requests are considered in a fair and equitable manner, and given priority in relation to the urgency of need and availability of funds.

The Variety NT Grant Committee meets once a month and applications are considered against set guidelines, including but not limited to:

  • Grants are available to individuals and/or organisations for projects or equipment that benefit children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
  • Applications may be made on behalf of a child or children up to their 18th birthday. No applications will be accepted after this date.

  • Variety NT will not approve Grant applications where alternative funding sources are available. This includes DEP (Disability Equipment Program) eligible items. Proof of any unsuccessful alternate funding should be included in your application.
  •  Applications cannot be considered for retrospective funding. Variety disburses funds on an invoice only basis and does not reimburse expenditure already incurred.

  • Variety NT does not fund research, therapy or rehabilitation services. Applications for therapy are at the discretion of Variety NT.
  • Variety does not fund vehicles for individuals or families. Variety NT does approve partial or joint funding for vehicles for organisations, through our Sunshine Coach program.

  • Each applicant (individual or organisation) must complete the Variety NT Application for Assistance form: available to download from our website www.varietynt.org.au

  • The Grant Committee will assess each application thoroughly and if more information is required, a Committee member may follow up via telephone, e-mail or post.
  • The deliberation process may take up to several months for an outcome to be advised.

  • As a general rule, there is a limit of one grant per recipient per 12 month period, except in special circumstances.
  • Please ensure that all additional paperwork requested (e.g. Payslips, quotes, referral letters etc.) have been included when submitting the application – if not, this will delay the decision process as Grants will not be reviewed until all relevant information is received.

  • All grants will be considered on a case by case basis. Variety NT seeks to respond to need in the community.

We respect the personal nature of the details you submit and will provide complete confidentiality. Please note, as part of our accountability procedures, Variety NT produces a report of successful Grants each financial year; this would include the item, age and suburb of individual or organisation recipients. If you have any concern regarding this procedure, please contact the Variety NT office.

NAVIGATING (MOVING THROUGH) THE APPLICATION FORM

On every screen (page of the form) you will find a Form Navigation contents box, this links directly to every page of the application. Click the link to jump directly to the page you want.

You can also click 'next page' or 'previous page' on the top or bottom of each page to move forward or backward through the application.

SAVING YOUR DRAFT APPLICATION

If you wish to leave a partially completed application, press 'save' and log out. When you log back in and click on the 'My Submissions' link at the top of the screen, you will find a list of any applications you have started or submitted. You can reopen your draft application and start where you left off.

You can also download any application, whether draft or completed, as a PDF. Click on the 'Download' button located at the bottom of the last page of the application form.

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

You will find a Review and Submit button at the bottom of the Navigation Panel. You need to review your application before you can submit it.

Once you have reviewed your application you can submit it by clicking on 'Submit' at the top of the screen or on the navigation panel. You will not be able to submit your application until all the compulsory questions are completed.

Once you have submitted your application, no further editing or uploading of support materials is possible.

When you submit your application, you will receive an automated confirmation email with a copy of your submitted application attached. This will be sent to the email you used to register.

If you do not receive a confirmation of submission email then you should presume that your submission has NOT been submitted.

ATTACHMENTS AND SUPPORT DOCUMENTS

You may need to upload/submit attachments to support your application. This is very simple, but requires you to have the documents saved on your computer, or on a storage device.

You need to allow enough time for each file to upload before trying to attach another file. Files can be up to 25MB each; however, we do recommend trying to keep files to a maximum of 5MB – the larger the file, the longer the upload time.

COMPLETING AN APPLICATION IN A GROUP/TEAM

A number of people can work on an application using the same log in details as long as only one person is working at a time. Ensure you save as you go.

SPELL CHECK

Most internet browsers (including Firefox v2.0 and above; Safari; and Google Chrome) have spell checking facilities built in – you can switch this function on or off by adjusting your browser settings.
