Individual grant applications are capped at $10,000. If you are requesting funding above this amount due to special circumstances, please provide justification within your application.
To be eligible for an Individual Grant:
- The child must reside in Queensland
- The child must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Applications must be made on behalf of a child aged 0-17 years (applications must be submitted and finalised before the child’s 18th birthday)
- Variety will not approve applications for items covered by NDIS
Funding Conditions
- No cash is given; Variety pays the supplier directly.
- No retrospective funding (items already purchased are ineligible)
- Individuals must wait a minimum of 6 months after receiving a grant before submitting a new application
Information Required
- Financial income documentation (e.g. pay slips, Centrelink income statement)
- Three quotes for each item requested (no older than 3 months; exceptions apply
for remote areas or unique suppliers)
- Supporting documentation from two professionals is required, including
confirmation of diagnosis (if applicable) and need for equipment (if applicable). At
least one of these professionals must be a medical practitioner. Other acceptable
sources include a occupational therapist, social worker, principal, or teacher.
